About the Recovery Collaborative Institute

My name is Casey Swank and I’m the founder and director of The Recovery Collaborative Institute. I’m a licensed clinical social worker with more than 17 years of experience in addiction treatment. Throughout my career, I’ve worked directly with individuals and families and held leadership roles, including serving as Director of Substance Use Disorder Services for Santa Cruz County.

My experience spans nonprofit organizations and County Behavioral Health, where I’ve designed treatment programs and substance use disorder systems of care. I’m passionate about supporting individuals and families navigating substance use disorder, as well as helping professionals and care systems strengthen their approach to treatment.

Substance use disorder is too often left out of important conversations in treatment settings. When we don’t talk about it openly, stigma can persist and people may be less likely to receive informed, compassionate care. I believe advocacy, education, and information sharing can help change that. Through The Recovery Collaborative Institute, I’m committed to supporting people and families, equipping professionals, and advancing more thoughtful and effective responses to substance use disorder.
